…basically; expect severe delays at the twin roundabouts and entrance to the JR on Headley Way in late January 2018!
(This information is gleaned from the Access to Headington website where you can find the most recent information and register for regular eMail updates.)
Christmas shutdown:
All work on The Slade and Churchill/Roosevelt Drive will cease on Friday 22 December for the Christmas period. Work will begin again on Tuesday 2 January 2018. Traffic management will remain in place during the closure for safety reasons. Regular safety checks will be made.
Public exhibition:
If you want to find out more about the project in person, Oxfordshire County Council will be holding another public exhibition on Thursday 14 December at the Headington Prep School between 2.30pm and 6.30pm. This is an opportunity to speak to members of the Councils' project team, Skanska and the Designers. All aspects of the project remain the same as per the last public exhibition held in the Summer and all drawings can be found on the website.
In the meantime, status update as follows:-
Headley Way:
Mobilisation for the Headley Way part of the works will begin on Tuesday 16 January 2018, with construction work starting on Tuesday 23 January 2018. The first part of the works requires temporary lights to remove the traffic islands on the double mini-roundabouts at Marsh Lane and at the JR access. This is expected to be very disruptive.
The Slade:
Work between the mini roundabout at Hollow Way and Wood Farm Road has now been completed and the current phase of work between Wood Farm Road and Slade Close should be completed before Christmas. The last phase will start after Christmas between Slade Close and Old Road. This will take approximately four weeks.
Churchill Drive/Roosevelt Drive:
The final phase of these works is on schedule for completion before Christmas. There may be some work to do after this but it will be minor and will cause little disruption. The majority of the traffic management will be removed over the Christmas period however Churchill Drive will remain as access only and traffic leaving the Churchill site will continue to be diverted via Roosevelt Drive.
The permanent traffic lights on Old Road have been switched on.
