HRA STREET CAROL SINGING ...and meet Father Christmas Friday 7th December 6:00pm Meet up at the Community Noticeboard in All Saints Road Join us to celebrate the festive season by singing carols around Highfield. Come with family and friends and bring lanterns, torches and musical instruments. We provide carol sheets and refreshments afterwards. Father Christmas will meet the children at 6:00pm and we’ll start our carols in All Saints Road and progress around Highfield finishing around 7:15pm with mulled wine and mince pies (served indoors!). We’ll post our itinerary on the notice board so join us if you’re late. Look forward to seeing you there! Our next cinema evening is on Friday 16th November 7.30pm All Saints Church House New High Street (upstairs room) We're showing The Florida Project (2017) ...highly acclaimed as one of the great films about childhood "a powerful film full of life, joy and natural beauty" (Newsweek). Please note that it’s certificate 15 as it deals with adult themes. A chronicle of the Great War A Black Fox Production 7.30 pm Saturday 10th November Wesley Memorial Church New Inn Hall Street, Oxford On the centenary of the end of the Great War a programme of music, readings, songs and dance performed by Black Fox and the Oxford Morris Men. Join us for what is sure to be an incredible evening of music, poetry and reflection. No admission charge, donations welcome All profits to Oxford Cruse Bereavement Care For full details see the flyer here Encouraged by the recent renaissance in Community Cinema, HRA plans to hold regular cinema evenings in All Saint's Church House on New High Street. The aim is to show interesting films in a social context with drinks and refreshments provided. We need to pay a licence fee to show each film so a modest charge will be made for admission. The next Cinema Evening will be held on 16th November; 7:00 for a 7:30pm start, followed by another in January and then March 2019. We do hope you will support this new venture and if you have any suggestions for titles you'd like to see, please let us know. UPDATE: HRA Annual Street Meal & Film
At present the weather forecast does not look promising for our Street Meal and Film evening tomorrow - rain is forecast from mid afternoon. If that is the case we will set up in All Saints Church House (New High Street) for both the meal (from 6.15pm) and the film evening (7.15/7.30), so we are weatherproof! Do hope you can join us tomorrow... Street Cinema & Mezze Paddington 2 We will provide soft drinks. Details to be confirmed. ___~___ Headington Campus Development Plan & Clive Booth Student Village Redevelopment Oxford Brookes University are formulating their plans for the redevelopment of the Clive Booth Student Village, and considering the long-term changes to their estate through a Campus Development Plan. They say: "We held an initial exhibition in March 2018 to introduce you to the proposals, including the replacement of the Helena Kennedy building, for which an application is currently under consideration with Oxford City Council. The exhibition will be an opportunity for you to understand the detailed design proposals and the Campus Development Plan and provide your feedback to the University and design team ahead of a detailed planning application being submitted in the summer." Exhibion details:: Venue: Clive Booth Student Village Post Graduate Centre, John Garne Way, OX3 0FP Dates: Wednesday 27th June 3-7pm & Thursday 28th June 3-7pm Members of the Project Team will be available at the exhibition to help answer any questions that may arise. Sunday 24th June 2018 Highfield Residents Association Street Party GREAT GET TOGETHER ALL SAINTS ROAD (closed to traffic) This year, HRA and All Saints Church join forces to celebrate the Great Get Together inspired by Jo Cox. Morning café, Big Celebration Lunch, live music, street games, teas, open gardens and later a pub social. Fun for all ages. Come with family/friends and celebrate! All Saints' Church, Lime Walk. More here. Wednesday 4 April 2018 East Area Planning Committee Town Hall at 6pm. Agenda appears here about a week before the meeting. Sunday 8 April 2018 Stansfeld Park Conservation Day (Local green space) Stansfeld Park, OX3 8SB, 9.45am to 4pm. Parking on site is very limited so please avoid driving where possible, but limited parking is available on Quarry Road. The recent snow has created a lot of extra work in addition to our normal spring tasks and we would love for you to come and help us carry out a spring clean! Fallen trees block many of the paths and clearings are choked with scrub. We’ll be cutting back, creating habitat piles and raking vegetation alongside a roaring fire while keeping energy levels up with hot drinks and biscuits. We welcome accompanied children aged 5 and over to help with the more lightweight clearing jobs. Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult who will be responsible for their safety. Join us for the Highfield annual litterpick. We provide the gloves, equipment and refreshments (indoors!) afterwards.
